Summer Recital July 1st 2022

It’s been an incredibly busy time here at HQ and it’s time for a well overdue update!!

I had the great pleasure and privilege of performing my first recital post COVID-19 (lockdowns and the worst of the pandemic) since 2019 with the wonderful one and only Mr Tim Jones tinkling the old ivories!

Tim is a fabulous pianist, accompanist, educator, WJEC Examiner and MD whom I first had the pleasure of meeting in February 2022 when he asked me to play for the Tip Top Theatre Production of CATS by Andrew Lloyd Webber. Thus was born a beautiful friendship and a truly magical week of CATS!

Our first foray into the world of Recitals together was a success! We had some very special guests, my own flute teacher the wonderful Andrew Edwards and one of my dearest and best friends the incomparable Gavin Holden who acted as Compere for the evening.

Some of the works performed were by Jon Raybould called Razzle Dazzle and A Pause for Thought, Spring by Herman Beeftink and Wilhelm Popps Sonatine Op388 Movement 1. Andy and I played some duets from The Magic Flute and the wonderful Valse Des Fleurs by E. Köhler. Gavin and I also had lots of fun with Flute and Trombone duets, i can guarantee that Mozart and Handel never quite heard their works performed in that manner before!! Our rehearsals were hilarious!!

Gavin and I were helping to raise funds on behalf of our dear friends, Guy Booth and his wife, Kelly who is only 47 was recently diagnosed with an aggressive form of Motor Neurone Disease. They are a wonderful inspiring family in many ways and we raised £160 for Motor Neurone Disease Association and The Severn Hospice from refreshments donations on the night!

We would like to give a huge shout out to Guy who fundraised with a 24 hour music-a-thon on July 1/2 which was huge fun. We had the great pleasure of supporting him on the 2nd and performing a set. The Severn Hospice have been of much support to the family at this time. As things stand at the time of posting Guy has raised a whopping £16,272.00 with a £10k target! Amazing!!

If you wish to donate to these two very worthy causes, you can do so here:

A “Selected Highlights” video from the recital is available on my YouTube channel and also Facebook, however a short clip of The Squirrels by Henri Büsser pre- recital is here for you to watch!

Thanks for all the love, support and encouragement,
